Disco Stu saw the Switch 2.
The Switch 2 (ass it is tentatively called) has been on everyone’s mind, given the announcement should be soon. But, every once in a while, mistakes happen.
Satisfye makes accessories, primarily for Nintendo’s Switch. And they’re incredibly comfortable, as we can personally vouch. So it’s no surprise that they would have the specs, at the bare minimum, to start building a grip for the Switch 2. Unfortunately, they may have overplayed that hand a little bit.
Per Insider Gaming, the company uploaded a trailer to YouTube announcing their new Zengrip 2 for the yet-to-be-debuted console. Unfortunately, it seems someone forgot that leaving the console in the grip for this trailer was probably not a great idea. At any rate, even if it is in shadow, the Switch successor showed up in a trailer for an accessory before it was seen anywhere else.
Naturally, the video was taken down immediately after Satisfye realized the blunder. But not before several people grabbed clips and screenshots of the upcoming console sitting in its new grip.
Grainy as a photo of Bigfoot. The cryptid, not the monster truck.
That said, there’s debate as to whether the console seen is a mockup based on the purported dimensions, or whether it’s the genuine article. The fact that the video got taken down might indicate the latter, though there’s no confirmation. Neither Nintendo nor Satisfye have said a thing.
There seems to be the beginning of a sieve going on for the Switch 2. A job listing indicated that the console will support faster SD cards. A video posted to Chinese social media allegedly shows what the new console’s JoyCons will look like.
Moreover, a leak indicated that Nintendo is gearing up for a “massive launch” for the Switch 2, preparing roughly 2.5 times the launch units compared to that of its predecessor. The original Switch was notoriously out of stock, with scalpers taking advantage of the fact, so this is good news.
Nintendo has announced that they plan to launch this new switch before the end of this fiscal year. Since the fiscal year ends somewhere in the Spring, that means that in should launch by March/April of next year. That said, it’s unlikely to launch before the end of this year (if that were the case, they’d have debuted it earlier in the year and had it out ahead of the Christmas season).
So there’s your lot. Switch 2 early next year, will be vaguely Switch shaped.
