A Sidelong Glance At Disney Streaming’s The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian

Please don’t die like a total bitch, gunfighter.

the official Star Wars site  has given us our first look at Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars series: The Mandalorian. Not only did they give us a photo (and shit that armor is always cool), they gave us a list of directors for some of the upcoming episodes.

The series will be written and executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau, as previously announced, with Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) directing the first episode. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).

it also gives us a synopsis of the show. Which, to me at least, sounds appropriately space-western.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

Well, we could use some more Mandalorians that don’t anticlimactically drop like a sack of hammers. And I trust pretty much everyone actually involved with making The Mandalorian. So I’m actually looking forward to this show. Give him some big iron and play the angle up hard. Don’t subvert my expectations.
