But why?
There seems to be a movie adaptation of Dance Dance Revolution in the works. And, yeah, it took me a while to pick my jaw up off the floor.
Per Variety, Greg Silverman’s newly formed Stampede is behind the adaptation. The film is being made in joint with producers J. Todd Harris and Marc Marcum from Branded Entertainment. And naturally, Konami likes money is on board.
Yeah, I’m surprised to not see Sony Pictures in there, too.
But Bryan, I hear you say, Dance Dance Revolution is a game that doesn’t even have a story! And you’d be right, but that’s no barrier to money. They seem to be banking on the name for the story. It’s set in a world where the only means of survival is to unite through the power of glowing arrows dance. Truly, the stuff of Footloose and Captain EO.
Good, bad, who knows? But it better be the one movie that year with this shitty, shitty late-90’s song on its soundtrack You know the one; it’s on every cheap, Hong Kong toy cellphone in existence.
Hey SMiLE.dk fans! Did you know you don’t exist? You are literally the fiction of someone’s imagination now!
