–WARNING: Strong Personal Opinions Ahead–
Director Joe Wright, whose credits include such films as Atonement and Pride & Prejudice, is directing Pan and has tagged Rooney Mara to play the iconic Native American, Tiger Lily.
Warner Bros. and Rooney Mara are currently in negotiations, because you know, every Native American actress on planet Earth has magically disappeared.
As you may have figured I’m not the biggest fan of this casting, no matter how talented this young woman is. Hollywood doesn’t have many projects that feature Native American characters, and the one that is most recognizable to most is not being played by one.
I guess we can at least look forward to her next roles playing Sacagawea, Harriet Tubman and the lead in the Rosa Parks Story…
Muscle bound actor Wolverine, er, Hugh Jackman is playing Blackbeard the pirate and Garrett Hedlund will be playing baddie Hook in the film, although from all accounts Blackbeard will be the film’s main villain.
A Pan has yet to be cast.
