I don’t know what I’m more tired of, Ghostbusters 3 rumors or True Detective season two rumors. Probably the latter, but man, these Ghostbusters rumors have gotten fucking tiresome. But we finally have some confirmation of something we’ve heard for a while: the third movie is happening, it’s being directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat), and the cast will be female.
Feig tweeted:
It’s official. I’m making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.
Dippold is a writer on Parks and Recreation, but is probably best known for writing The Heat.
I’m fine with this. Any forward momentum is fine, actually, as long as it means we don’t have to hear about the squabbling between Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray. I imagine we’re looking at Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Aubrey Plaza as Wiig’s younger sister who gets roped into joining, and maybe someone like Rashida Jones. Or possibly a dramatic actress who wants to show everyone she’s funny – looking at you, Anne Hathaway.
