Shadow of the Colossus gets a new director

I guess Sony is still making a Shadow of the Colossus movie. The project has been gestating since 2009, and most recently had Chronicle director Josh Trank attached to it, before he left to do a Fantastic Four reboot that no one wants, as well as a standalone Star Wars film, which is probably a new trilogy about the origins of Salacious Crumb.

Anyway, since Trank is busy appearing in my jokes, Sony has hired a new director, and Deadline is saying that it’s Andres Muschietti, who previously directed 2013’s Mama. That film had a good visual style that I think would jibe well with the imagery of Colossus, but I’m still wary about this. I defy you to name me a genuinely good movie based on a video game. For my money, I’d say the two best are Doom and Mortal Kombat, which is a depressing thing to say because both those movies suck ass.

We’ll keep you updated on this as we hear more.
