The Lonely Island is headed to the big screen

I’m not sure what the Internet’s curren position on The Lonely Island is, but I’ve loved them since Incredibad, and any group that can get Michael Bolton to sing “This whole town’s a pussy just waiting to get fucked” deserves our respect. Anyway, Variety is reporting that The Lonely Island – comprised of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer – are getting the big-screen treatment. The film will be co-directed by Taccone and Schaffer, both of whom have experience behind the camera, having previously helmed criminally underrated films like Macgruber and The Watch, respectively.

Variety doesn’t have a whole lot of detail to add, just that Judd Apatow will serve as producer because DUH. One can imagine that there will just a whole mess of celebrity cameos; at the very least, Jon Hamm, Justin Timberlake, and a whole bevy of Apatow regulars can be expected to appear. Me, I’m hoping for a feature-length version of Awesometown.
