Raiden (Pre-Painted) Gathering Statue

Raiden

We get a lot of neat things showing up here in the office from time to time, but rarely does something come in that blows everyone away.

The fine people at E2046.com sent us over one of their high quality hand-painted resin figures to take a look at. They have a large selection of statues, but as I predominantly focus of reviewing video games they sent us over a pre-painted 1/6 scale Raiden statue from Metal Gear Revengence.

E2046 offers different ranges of statues that come pre-painted as well as blank so that you can show off you artistic talent. Seeing as I can barely use a box of crayons I’m excited to have this pre-painted piece.

The statue itself came packaged incredibly well and required a fair amount of time just to pull out all the pieces. E2046 is based out of Hong Kong so it’s safe to be concerned about shipping, but everything came packaged excellently.

Raiden

The Raiden statue came bundled in seven distinct parts, all carefully wrapped in foam in a form fitted container. The Box itself is quite large and features some nice art of the figure inside. You can rest assured that if you order one of these pieces that it’ll make it to you without a problem.

The figure itself is broken up into seven parts that will require minimal assembly. You have a base that is molded after some broken terrain with the “Gathering” badge on its edge. I’ve own a few statues and display figures over the years from different manufactures and I can safely say that this Raiden figure has the best looking display base I’ve seen. They could easily have skimped and gone with a generic base, but took the extra step to mold something special.

Raiden

The main piece is the torso, head, legs, and arm all as one solid part. You will have to attach Raidens outstretched arms well as both individual hands. One of the hands is open at his side while the other is in a fist with an opening to insert his sword.

The figure does come with some accessories and this is where you’ll have to take some care when putting him together. The blade slips into his hand easily, but as it is quite thin is very delicate and can snap if you apply even minimal pressure to it. Once you have it in there I highly recommend you don’t mess with it again to risk breaking.

He also comes with a back attachment that replicates his holster which snaps just under his armpit. If you aren’t familiar with Raidens look and equipment you may find yourself wondering just how the piece snaps in (it took us about 5 minutes to figure out just hon the thing attached to him). He also has an attachable shin-guard that easily snaps on mimicking the one that is permanently attached to his other leg.

Raiden

The painting done on the piece is bar far the best thing about this. It is excellent and manages to look better in person than it does in any of its pictures. The care put into matching Raiden is to be commended from top to bottom. Every part of the statue stands out in a good way and the shading done on the various bits of armor is top-notch. This is something that you can proudly display in your collection or on a shelf and it’s almost guaranteed that people will ask about it and how to get one. The paint is smooth and I couldn’t find any areas where it was missing or overlapping over another color.

Raiden comes in at 32cm or just over 13 inches in height. He is a large statue and will easily steal the focus of whatever is around him. Fully packaged the statue weighs in at 1.79kg which is slightly under 4 pounds. Most of this weight comes from the packaging with the actual piece being fairly light. He has just enough weight to him  so that it doesn’t feel cheap, but the weight does make you want to handle him with kid gloves as most statues you might be used to probably weigh a bit more for something of the same relative size.

The attention to detail is superb

The current reviews from users on E2046.com that have purchased the statue all praise it. Before we opened it up and put it together we noticed that it had a perfect 5 star rating, something that doesn’t often happen on the internet. After setting the piece up and having it on display for a few days we can see just why so many people love it.

If you are a fan of the Metal Gear series and are looking to add a limited edition piece to your collection then the “Gathering” Raiden statue is something to definitely look at. The Raiden figure retails for $239.99 via the E2046 website, but is currently on sale for $191.99 at the time of this writing.
