Anyone that wears glasses knows the pain of them just being, well, not quite right for the task at hand. Some often even have several pairs for different tasks. Or, they just have bifocals. Enter Voy.
Voy’s glasses allow users to adjust the prescription of their corrective eyewear on the fly via the small wheel in the front of the frame. They were originally designed for people with presbyopia, but the company is aiming for an even larger market now.
While they’re convenient, they’re not light, weighing in at 35 grams. This is due in part to the wheel that allows you to adjust the prescription; turning it away from your nose for negative power (if you’re farsighted), or towards your nose if you need magnification. They also come with an anti-reflective coating, as well as UV and blue light protection. All for between $59-$99.
They’re not necessarily perfect, though. Complaints range from the quality of the materials, to headaches and the like. For their part in it, though, Voy’s staying the course. They put out the following:
This is our first release of the product. We recognize there are many areas we need to improve. We hope our tunable lens technology can work for lot of people and help them seeing better under various conditions.
