The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut Is Free On GOG Galaxy Right Now

The Witcher

Get on it.

It’s been a decade and some change. But it’s still possible that you haven’t played the first game of The Witcher. Which is good news for you, because The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut is free over on GOG Galaxy right now.

The good news is that this is the best version of the game to own. The (not really) bad news is that this is only available through the GOG Galaxy client. Coincidentally, said client recently got a major update, so you also need to be running the latest version of GOG Galaxy to see it. And there are some people that don’t like that. Can’t figure out why, it’s not like there’s DRM or anything.

Regardless, you may or may not be up to dealing with a 13-year-old game that really isn’t to the standard of its more recent installment. That’s okay, as this version also comes with all the goodies surrounding it: You get the original soundtrack, “Music Inspired by The Witcher”, an artbook, maps, creator interviews, a game guide, wallpapers, and more.

All you need to do to get it is run the client, hit the “recent” tab, and if you don’t already own it, there should be a banner at the top of the page with a button to click to claim the game. After that, the game should show up in your library.
