Those poor Stadia fans, tut tut.

Well, it’s been a rough year, eh? Just never forget that it can get worse, my friend. Because if you get your internet through Comcast, it’s about to.

Comcast plans to implement a data cap on all but its Unlimited plan holders that soft caps their internet usage at 1.2 TB. If they go over, they’ll incur overage charges. For the first to months after the change, you’ll get a curtesy credit, of sorts. After that, it’s $10 per 50 GB over the cap, to a maximum of $100.

As for their reasons, well, Comcast states that only 5% of their users use that much data a month. And even then, the average user only uses 308 GB a month, according to Comcast.

This might be a problem if you have several people in the house using the internet, and one of them is constantly rewatching The Office for the umpteenth time. Doubly so, now that everyone’s home all the time and people are mostly working from home.

The new data caps apply to users in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia, as well as certain parts of North Carolina and Ohio.
