Adult Swim Cancels The Venture Bros. Before Season 8 Goes Into Production

The Venture Bros.

You may silence us, but there will be others! Semper fidelis tyrannosaurus!

It seems that 2020 hasn’t been enough of a garbage fire yet. Well, here comes the news that The Venture Bros., a.k.a. the best show Adult Swim has, period, has been canceled.

The news initially came via a Tweet by Ken Plume, who worked with Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick on Go Team Venture!: The Art and Making of The Venture Bros. Plume was responding to a Tweet asking for users to comment their favorite shows canceled before their time.

The tweet was from September 5th. And just two days later, the 7th saw confirmation from Jackson Publick himself: The Venture Bros. run on Adult Swim is done for.

I am now 100% mad. Especially as Adult Swim tweeted this low-grade apologia out.

Yeah, if that was true, you wouldn’t have shitcanned it as they were ramping up for Season 8. But you know what? Let’s say I didn’t know that [as] kinda screwed over Brendon Small. Let’s say I didn’t know that whatever pitch Tim & Eric send their way would get greenlit. Would one dollar bring The Venture Bros. back?

Because I’d eat the pennies. I imagine a lot of people would eat the pennies. And then they’d poop out the pennies, but that really doesn’t enter into the equation.

I’m gonna be honest; The Venture Bros. probably had some of the most subtle, intelligent humor of any Adult Swim show. While I like Rick & Morty well enough, there’s a reason there’s that copypasta out there; R&M fanboys are practically the definition of Dunning Kruger. And you’d be hard pressed to find a joke quite as sophisticated as Brick Frog in that show.

It’s just a shame, since the last season had some great payoff for fans.

There is, apparently, some light at the end of the tunnel, though. Supposedly, Comedy Central was at one point after the show for their network, meaning it could hop.

Ah, well. If this is the end, we should send it off, just as the Chairman was:

Side Note: Fuck, this season 5 episode was great:
