‘Small World of Warcraft’ Shrinks Blizzard’s MMORPG Into a Tabletop Game

World of Warcraft is still a massive beast in 2020. Sure, it isn’t bringing in the numbers or has the impact that it had in the early days, it’s still a much-lived and heavily played game, and until RIOT steps into the MMORPG game it’s crown is still well secured.

But now the game is expanding into other territories. No, it isn’t being ported to home consoles or my beloved Nintendo Switch, but it is heading home in the form of a neat little tabletop game. And small is the point!

Small World of Warcraft is an official collaboration between Blizzard and Days of Wonder. Players will choose between the two main factions and fight for control of the land of Azeroth.

It’s a small game and built for 2-5 players with most games lasting around an hour to finish. As a fan of short gaming experiences with my limited free time, I’m all for this!

The game will include:

  • 6 double-sided boards
  • 16 Warcraft race banners
  • 182 Matching Race tokens
  • 15 Murloc tokens
  • 20 Unique Special Power badges
  • 5 Player Summary Sheets
  • 12 Artifact and Legendary place markers
  • 10 mountains
  • 9 Wisp Walls
  • 4 Harmony tokens
  • 12 Bombs
  • 1 Champion
  • 10 Forts
  • 2 Military Objectives
  • 5 Beasts
  • 6 Watch Towers
  • 110 Victory coins
  • 1 Custom Reinforcement die
  • 1 Game turn back
  • 1 Game turn marker
  • 1 Rule book
  • 1 Team Variant Rule sheet
