Las Vegas Suffers Cyber Attack; Effects Unclear

Las Vegas

Be honest; can your data be any more compromised than it already is?

On Tuesday, Las Vegas got hit by a cyber attack that got all up in the city’s computer systems. The breach reportedly happened at around 4:30 PM. And, according to officials, nobody’s really sure whether anything was compromised. Regarding the breach, city spokesman David Riggleman had this to say

The city is taking extensive steps to protect its systems.

We’re not aware of what that [the effects of the breach] would be at this point. We’re still assessing that right now. We don’t know that any of the data has left the city at this point.

David Riggleman, per Las Vegas Review-Journal

According to Riggleman, Las Vegas is a high priority target for these sorts of things. According to him, on average, Las Vegas gets hit with over 279,000 attempts on their computer systems a month.

This gets even crazier, considering that CES is live right now.

Personally, though? I imagine M. Bison is to blame for this one. Because for Vegas, the day Bison hacked your shit was the most important day of your lives; but for him, it was Tuesday.
