Noah Hawley To Direct Next Star Trek Film

Star Trek has been all over the place the past several years. A new trilogy of movies were pretty well-received, with Star Trek Beyond being a solid affair all around. With two television series now going on it’s time the movie side of the Trek world came back for another outing.

A spin-off Star Trek film with Quentin Tarantino as its producer is also in development

If you’ll remember, the 4th Star Trek film in the reboot timeline was in jeopardy after things fell apart on all fronts. It now seems that all issues have been addressed and Paramount had tapped Noah Hawley to write and direct the 4th entry of the reboot franchise.

Hawley is best known for his work on a number of highly successful television shows on FX including Fargo and Legion. He also made his feature film debut earlier this year with Lucy in the Sky.

We have no word on what this next installment will be about but it’s safe to assume things are going to get weird if Hawley’s previous projects are any indication. I’m all for something a little different and a little more heady to the mostly stock action schlock the reboot series has devolved into.

It should be noted that this isn’t the only Star Trek film project that’s in the works as a spin-off Star Trek film with Quentin Tarantino as its producer is also in development. What a time to be a star Trek fan!
