We got in on the presentation for the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. And, strange as it may sound for a game pretty squarely aimed at kids, they did not disappoint.

For one thing, they clarify right up front that this isn’t just a port of the previous games updated for modern consoles and given a spit-shine. No, everything has been (if you’ll excuse the pun) built from the ground up for this game. Their hubs are precise and to the point, too; you’re not going to spend hours traveling to the next content to enjoy.

You can choose any episode you want to right from the get-go as well. If you want to start with The Empire Strikes Back, you can.

Furthermore, you actually have the ability to travel the galaxy.  You can travel to any planet that was featured in the movies. They were a little vague as to how this works based on the episodes, but I’m sure it’ll make more sense when the game comes out.

Finally, and I’d be remiss if I weren’t to mention it, you can feed anyone to the Sarlacc pit. In their case, it was C3P0 that took Boba’s expected place in the demo. Which was a pretty good choice; C3P0 has the right frame of mind to really appreciate a new definition of pain and suffering, as he is slowly digested over a thousand years.

The game covers all 9 movies, which does include the upcoming Episode 9. So naturally, it’ll be out a little after that film’s premiere. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga comes out in early 2020.
