Yes, seriously.
Chalk it up on the list of things you considered unlikely all you want. But, Farming Simulator now has its very own eSports League. And there’s a very real 250,000€ (about $280,000) in cash prizes for the victorious, put up by the developers themselves.
There will be 10 tournaments taking place across Europe. Said tournaments will take place at major shows, such as Gamescom and Paris Game Week. Teams will earn circuit points and prizes through these events. After the end of the regular season, their points will be tallied up at FarmCon 2020 to crown the champion. Said champ will walk away with the equivalent of $110,000.
We have a unique opportunity […] competitive farming is something people enjoy for years now, but it hasn’t been done in eSports so far. We have lots of eSports enthusiasts in our company who can’t wait to show the world that farming can indeed be fun and competitive at the same time. We believe we found the right mix of real farming and fun to play game elements to ensure everyone will find it entertaining.
