Resident Evil 2 Remake Gets Classic Costumes & More

Resident Evil 2 is just around the corner and fans of the original are getting some love from Capcom with regards to costumes. Those that played the game remember that unlocking costumes is part of the fun and pushed players to play the game again, getting better completion times.

With that in mind a special launch celebration livestream in Japan, Capcom gave word that some extra are coming to the Resident Evil 2 Remake down the road. The big announcement comes from the new Ghost Survivors mode that will drop sometimes after launch. But what’s really cool is that it will be free!

This mode lets you play the game again but throws in all sorts of random elements into the mix. You earn points depending on how well you are doing which you can then use to buy stuff in an in-game shop.

Fans of extra characters should take note as this mode will also let you play with some new characters to the series including the Raccoon City mayor’s daughter Katherine. You’ll also get to play as Robert Kendo, the owner of the gun shop and first non-zombie character you meet.

As for costumes Capcom is going back to the past to give players the classic costumes for our heroes. These are essentially the blocky polygon models from the PS1 era that you can play as. It’s silly, sure, but it’s a fun little extra.

Because this was Japanese stream we aren’t sure how you’ll be a bale to acquire these costumes, as the stream showed off some custom PSN cards that unlocked the costume pack. We are hoping these costumes are available worldwide and multi-platform.
