On the hunt with Monster Hunter Generations at E3 2018

Sound the horns!

The whole Gambit crew got a chance to play with Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on the Switch. And if you’re familiar with Monster Hunter, you probably know what to expect.

Okay, fine. The game runs well in handheld mode (which is what we got to play it on.) And, by and large, it’s much the same as the 3DS’s Monster Hunter Generations.

Most of the styles and such return as they were. but it definitely benefits from the increased hardware power. It’s as crisp as you can get with the Switch’s specs.

Granted, it’s not just the same game; there’s more than what we were able to experience with the demo. But the demos for Monster Hunter games tend to be pretty simple, so it’s hard to say what’s new on the way. Especially if there’s anything different with the Japanese original.

One thing worth noting, however, is that you can transfer your character and progress to Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate from the original game.

Which means that you can mostly pick up where you left off with the save transfer, much like the one for Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate.

Other than that, though, our time was limited, and we weren’t going to see too far into the game’s content. But since the game comes out August 28th this year, we won’t have to wati too long.
