Resident Evil 7 coming to Nintendo Switch with a catch

The much-loved Resident Evil 7 is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

But before you get too excited understand that Capcom is currently only making the game available in Japan on May 24. The game is special in that it won’t have a physical release and is being billed as a “Cloud Version” of the game.

Resident Evil 7 Cloud Version plays, well, via the cloud. The game will require only a 45MB download to the Switch and the rest is streamed in. Of course, this means you’ll need an internet connection to get in on the scares.

You also won’t own the game outright it seems as Capcom is making the fist 15 minutes of the game free for anyone, but will charge 2,000 yen (about $18) for a special “ticket” that will give you access to the game for 180 days.

There is no word is this “Cloud Version” of the game will make it outside Japan. The folks at the Resident Evil fan wiki not that while the game has sold well, it’s currently the lowest selling mainline Resident Evil game, which is just mind boggling knowing the hate for Resident Evil 6.

There might be an announcement of Resident Evil 7 coming to other regions at E3, and if there is we will keep you posted while down at the convention.
