Toxic Games’ mysterious puzzler Q.U.B.E. 2 out now

Q.U.B.E. 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2011 hit, Q.U.B.E., is out now!

Players of the first-person puzzler are also able to purchase the Q.U.B.E. 2 Season Pass which will give them access to all currently released content alongside a classic glove skin pack and two themed packs featuring a slew of brand new puzzles.

Q.U.B.E. 2 puts players in the shoes of British archaeologist, Amelia Cross, on a beautiful yet mysterious alien planet.  With the help of fellow survivor, Emma, Amelia must face the challenges of the Q.U.B.E. in the hope of finding a way back home. Q.U.B.E 2 retains the shifting, environmental puzzles of the original but wraps the action around Amelia’s own intimate story and her quest for survival.

I really enjoyed the first game, even though it was playing on the whole portal style of game that was seemingly everywhere at the time. Thankfully, this time the game is putting together what looks like an interesting story, the lack of which really hindered the first game.

The Season Pass is available for $13.99 as a standalone purchase or $34.99 when bought with Q.U.B.E. 2 itself. For those buying the game from Steam with the 20% launch discount, the bundle will cost $27.99.

I’m no fan of the season pass thing, and it’s worrying to see smaller developers and studios try to pull this. If smaller studios can’t, or don’t want to, give us complete experiences, then the industry does not look great for the future. Still, if you liked the first game then pick this one up, but maybe wait on that season pass until it plummets in price in a few months.
