LaCie’s Rugged line of hard drives can often be seen with photographers and and videographers. And they’re instantly noticeable with their bright orange foam padding. But LaCie’s new DJI Copilot swaps orange for grey and a host of new features.
For one thing, you don’t need a computer as a middleman to back things up with the DJI Copilot. It can allow you to do that while away from your workspace. You can copy photos or videos directly to the drive from your camera with the USB port. Or, you can just pop the SD card into the Copilot’s SD reader and do it that way. It comes with a built in cable to connect to your phone or tablet to review or organize footage. But that’s not all.
You can also manage files on the drive via the built in black and white screen (so chosen to conserve as much onboard battery power as possible). On a full charge, you can expect the drive to back up your footage for about 30 hours.
LaCie’s DJI Copilot only comes in one size: 2 TB. And when it launches this spring, it’ll run you a cool $349. That said, if you’re a professional in need of a means of backing up your footage in the field, it’s practically indispensable.
