Does for audio what previous Roku iterations did for streaming video.
Roku’s had a pretty good run of things when it comes to smart TV’s thanks to clever licensing of their hardware. But they don’t have any plans of stopping there. their Roku Connect plans to do much the same for Smart Speakers and sound bars.
Roku is already providing manufacturers with the new Roku Connect software. Essentially, any Roku enabled device with the software will be able to play music via the use of a remote, or voice commands. It can even do so without having your TV on. In this way, they’re planning to tie together a complete Home Entertainment ecosystem.

Both Roku Connect and Roku Entertainment Assistant will be free software upgrades to Roku devices in the near future. They plan to show off the new features at CES, though there’s currently no announced release date.
