Patrick Stewart Willing to Play Picard Again in a Tarantino Star Trek Film

Star Trek

I just phasered Marvin in the face.

Captain Picard retired to his vineyard a while ago. But Patrick Stewart is more that willing to bring the character back. Well, assuming Quentin Tarantino directs.

Stewart is pretty enthused about the potential Tarantino-based Star Trek project. And, being a fan of the director’s work, he’d love the chance to work with him. From an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

But one of my dreams is to work with Tarantino. I admire his work so much, and to be in a Tarantino film would give me so much satisfaction. So, if he is going to direct something to do with Star Trek and there was the possibility of dear old Jean-Luc showing up again and doing that for Mr Tarantino, I would embrace it.

He did, however, state in an earlier interview with Variety that it was incredibly unlikely he’d play the character again:

Oh, lord. I cannot think of another instance in which that might happen. My feeling is I hung up the space suit and left all that behind a long time ago. Maybe if someone came up with a brilliant idea, I’d do it. One thing that might interest me would be to bring all the existing casts of “Star Trek” from the last 50 years together for one big story.

Well, Tarantino’s fame as a director is well earned. It’s not hard to believe that just his involvement might lubricate the gears of such an arrangement.
