You know you’re gonna love it.
Blade Runner‘s influence is pretty far reaching. It’s really no surprise that it’s wormed its way into the minds of creatives across the globe. And one of those is legendary Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe.
Watanabe is directing a Blade Runner short. Titled Blade Runner Blackout 2022, the short takes place during a Los Angeles blackout 3 years after the original movie. You can check out the teaser above, and you’ll get more from it if you understand Japanese.
Of course, you’re probably wondering what the soundtrack will be like, considering Watanabe’s proclivity for having awesome scores. Have no fear; he’s tapped electronic musician Flying Lotus for that. Needless to say, he’s pumped about it.

Also, the second of three direct prequel shorts for Blade Runner 2049. Titled 2048: Nowhere To Run, it features David Bautista getting mixed up in a fight in LA. And possibly, the consequences of said fight.
