Mighty No. 9 Physical Edition Ships

Mighty No. 9 lol

It’s Mighty disappointing.

If you play games, chances are you couldn’t avoid knowledge of the neverending clusterfuck that is Mighty No. 9. And if you were one of the Kickstarter backers, you were probably disappointed, to say the least. And if you were one of the 7289 backers of the $60 Physical edition tier, you’re now pissed. From the Kickstarter:

PHYSICAL GAME BOX, PRINTED RETRO-STYLE GAME MANUAL & EXCLUSIVE IN-GAME GOLDEN HERO

A classic-style game box (Western- or Japanese-style, your choice), a printed version of the instruction manual (English or Japanese, your choice), and a special Backer-only golden color variation for the game’s hero, Beck! Includes all previous rewards. (Check the reward section of the page for more details.)

Fast forward to over two years later, people are getting their box and manual. You have to build the box yourself; there’s no insert to hold it together, either. It doesn’t come with a physical copy of the game itself, either, so you paid $60 for some fucking cardboard and paper. The manual is of the horrible monochrome variety, so you can’t even enjoy any artwork within (not like you were going to, really). Oh, and said manual doesn’t even fit in the damn box.

It’s looking more and more like Capcom did us a favor. Sure, they cancelled a bunch of games that didn’t have the words “Street”, “Resident” or “Monster” in the title. But they spared their fans this Mickey Mouse bullshit. But at the end of the day, that Mighty No. 9 television series will never see the light of day. I mean, Red Ash is basically not happening. I mean, Dina will never have a meaningful job in the industry again. I mean, boy, MegaMan X: Corrupted sure looks good, doesn’t it? Has Capcom’s blessing, too.
