Fallout 4 is already is pretty looking game, but we PC gamers are never satisfied with what developers spend years on. That said, a new texture patch has released in Beta for Fallout 4 on Steam and all the new fancy textures are going to cost to 58GB of space.
I’ve seen some big installs in my day, but that’s bigger than some hard drives I’ve owned! Hell, I’m going to have to make some room on my personal gaming PC just to make sure I can install the damn thing.
But just because you have the space doesn’t mean you can handle the game as it also requires some decent specs to be able to access all that pretty:
- Intel Core i7-5820K or better
- GTX 1080 8GB/AMD Radeon RX 490 8GB
- 8GB+ Ram
If you meet the above requirements then feel free to give the patch a try, but remember that it’s still in beta and at 58GB there is bound to be some issues here and there. And you can also turn off the textures via the launcher if the patch borks everything up.
The free patch will roll out to all Fallout 4 players once the Beta phase is complete, but you can sign up over on Steam and get in on the beta yourself right now. We also learned that a patch is coming for both PS4 and Xbox One, but we don’t know the details on those or if they will offer a high-resolution mode.
