Outlast and more are Free on Xbox One via Games with Gold

Prepare yourself for Red Barrels’ twisted new journey into the depths of the human mind by returning to where it all began.

Outlast, the acclaimed horror game from Red Barrels, is available to download free on Xbox One as part of the Games with Gold program from December 16th to January 15th.

In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the “research and charity” branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, the asylum has been operating in strict secrecy… until now.

Also, there is a creepy doctor dude that is averse to wearing pants. That is where the real horror lies! Wrinkly old man balls. Nightmare fuel. Sorry for that image.

Acting on a tip from an anonymous source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line between science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.

But there is another free game to be had that should make people not into the spookfest stuff pretty happy. Burnout Paradise is is also free for the 360 and playable on Xbox One via the backwards compatibility mode.

Paradise is a fantastic racing game (minus the damn addition of the fog effects) that should be a lot more well-known. Go download this one and enjoy the weekend with some fast cars and cool tunes.
