Street Fighter V Servers Go Down “Indefinitely”

This is not the launch week that Capcom was expecting with the release of Street Fighter V. Sure, the game itself has been getting fair reviews from the press, but this outage just goes to show you that early review codes can leave you with pie on your face.

With online heavy games there are always launch issues and server stability problems to iron out during the few days after launch, although one would have hoped that Beta testing and server stress tests would have given you some indication of what was going on before release.

Anyways, Street Fighter V was due for some routine maintenance staring at 1pm PST. No big deal, as this down time was supposed to only last three hours, which meant people could get back to battling before dinner. This also meant that Capcom would fix a few of the online issues the game was having.

Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned, as now we are learning that after the initial three-hour window came to a close it was being extended another hour. Well, that really sucks, but maybe their fixes were taking a bit longer to get rolled out so players made due. Then another announcement dropped that took everyone by surprise:

Street Fighter V

For whatever reason the Street Fighter V servers were going down indefinitely! No timeline has been given for when the game will be back up and running, but this does not bode well for those that spent all that money to play the game. Even more troubling is that because SFV is so focused on the online aspect of play there is such little in the way of offline content that the game is almost not worth playing.

Oh well, at least people can go out and snag a copy of Killer Instinct and knock out a few rounds.
