Steven Universe “It Could Have Been Great”

Middle of the race on Steven Universe. Just two more this week. Best is yet to come.

All of the time spent on the drill is rendered almost useless when Peridot realizes that she doesn’t have the coordinates of the cluster. There’s only one place they know they can find them. The MOOOOOOON!

Since there aren’t any warp pads on the Moon, Steven convinces Lion that he should totally give them a ride up there. Which is appropriately tiring to Lion, since it’s a great distance. And upon arrival, we get to watch Steven jump around the moonbase at the Moon’s proper gravity. The Gems, on the other hand, don’t get such a luxury, as they’re engineered to adjust to whatever gravitational situation they find themselves in.

Thanks to the murals, Steven finally gets a straight, albeit biased, answer about the diamonds from Peridot. They each rule a court of sorts, and are single-handedly the most powerful of their court by design. And the base they’re in was meant for a diamond exclusively; others were not permitted to set foot in the building.

They were also really fond of stairs.

The computer in the control room has the info they need, and it works despite its age and the fact that it has McAfee installed. They get the coordinates, but Peridot has to push things by looking into the original colonization plans for the Earth. This obviously picks at a sore point for the gems, but Peridot continues by praising the horrific hollowed out and non-Fern-Gully approved design.

Steven points out how her actions were less than kind, considering how much the Gems sacrificed to protect the Earth. She still acts pretty snide about it, though. Finally, he notices that she’s picked up an object that he was fooling around with earlier, taking steps to conceal it. Badly, since she doesn’t have pockets. Either way, it raises Steven’s suspicions.

Final Thoughts:

  • Kind of put the cart before the horse, didn’t they?
  • Lion thinks with portals.
  • Peridot is particularly enamored with her diamond. Just nothing but glowing praise for her incredible nature and all that.
