The day has finally come when Hearthstone, the massive online card game from Blizzard, has finally made its way onto mobile devices. Getting the game on smartphones was a no brainer, but this move really opens up the game to an entire new “casual” user base that inhabit the various app stores. While I tend to shy away from these competitive games, I will check out how it works in a mobile setting and report back.
Blizzard head, Mike Morhaime had the following to say on the release:
We’re excited to welcome mobile gamers to the Hearthstone community. Hearthstone’s quick, super-accessible gameplay is perfect for gaming on the go, and with the mobile versions it’s incredibly easy to jump into a match and have some fun.
Nothing has been left out of this mobile version of Hearthstone, but the UI does get a makeover to make it easier to manage on the smaller screens of many smartphones. Not only is this release good news for fans, but players who complete a single game of Hearthstone on Android or iOS, regardless of the outcome, will be able to pick up a completely free “Classic Card Pack” from the original Hearthstone deck. Not a bad way to get people hooked!
You can make your way over to the iTunes App Store to pick up your free download, and Android users can find their version waiting over at both the Google Play Store and Amazon App Marketplace. Check out the launch trailer via PC Gamer below:
