Halo comes back to PC but not as expected & you probably cant play it

Halo Online

PC gamers have been chomping at the bit to get the Halo series back onto PC. It only makes sense, but Microsoft does not want to jeopardize all the Xbox money if people left consoles to play games on PC. It’s a weird marketing strategy to sacrifice one of your platforms for another, but things are about to change. You see, Halo is finally making its return to the PC, but not in the way you think… Or want.

Halo Online will be a brand new, PC-exclusive, free-to-play online shooter for the Russian market. The game will launch later this year and will only be available to those of you that live in Russia, so odds are you’ll never get your hands on it. Halo Waypoint is reporting that the game is going to be multiplayer-only, and be optimized to run on lower-end PCs. Halo Online will be using a modified version of the Halo 3 engine to make this happen as PCs in Russia probably aren’t the fastest things around.

The story of Halo Online takes place on a UNSC space station called Anvil, where Spartan IV soldiers train and experimental technology. The game is being developed by Saber Interactive, a Russian studio that already has some ties to previous Halo games. The provided some work for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, so they are sure to be able to handle this project with the experience.

Halo Online will only be available in Russia and is being tailored for Russian gamers, but as we aren’t Russian we don’t know what that means (insert Vodka joke here). What this means is that is the game were ever to leave the country it would need to undergo major changes.
