The 20’s most leaked console!
News from CES 2025 is that there’s a replica of the upcoming Switch 2 on the floor.
Specifically, accessory maker Genki is, behind closed doors (natch), showing off their replica of the console as part of their demonstration of their accessories for it. These accessories include the like of controllers and a docking station, per VGC.
According to German publication Netzwelt, who got hands on time with this replica, it feels bigger in the hand compared to the Switch. They also note the side removal for the Joy Cons, as well as the extra button of mystery function on the right Joy Con.
Genki has claimed that they have the “exact dimensions” of the Switch 2 (necessary for an accessory maker). furthermore, they’ve updated their site with a video showcasing their accessories for the worst kept secret of 2025. This also includes a look at the dock, as well as the Switch 2 logo.
This is far from the first leak of most of this. Both Dbrand and Satisfye have both let the beans spill at this point. To say nothing of Reddit’s alleged leak of the motherboard. Also of note is Brazilian Pokémon leaker Centroleaks, as well as members of Famiboards, going through shipping records to find that the new hybrid console will have 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage (a huge leap over its predecessor’s 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage).
The real question is what, exactly, is Nintendo waiting for? While we have confirmation that the Switch 2 is not part of Nintendo’s current financial year, we have no idea when they’re going to make the official announcement, or why they haven’t done so yet. At this point, you really have to wonder whether all of this is some sort of marketing strategy, because otherwise Nintendo seems oddly okay with all of this hitting public knowledge ahead of that official announcement.
