Dbrand Leaks Switch 2 And Its Dimensions

Switch 2

I guess the cat and the bag have been deconstructed.

Hot on the heels of the previous leak, it seems someone has just stopped caring. As such, Dbrand has leaked the Switch 2 (obscured only by the transparent plastic case they’re producing for it), as well as its dimensions.

Dbrand confirmed that they have pre-release unit with The Verge; said unit is the basis for the render on their site. According to them, they created the render by scanning that pre-release unit.

This is, however, pretty consistent with Dbrand’s style. This is the company that sold unlicensed Switch skins themed after The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing. They also, rather famously, dared Sony to sue them over the custom PS5 face plates they made. So it’s not exactly out of line with their history.

As for other confirmations, Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz has confirmed that the Joy Cons do connect to the console magnetically, fixing a common point of failure from the early days of the Switch. There seems to be a second button underneath the home button on the right Joy Con, though what its function is remains unclear. There also seems to be a second USB-C port on the top of the unit, which could mean anything from more convenient charging to greater peripheral support; even expanded storage.

Ijaz also shared the dimensions of the new console with The Verge. 270mm wide, 116mm tall, and 14mm thick (only if she’s 5’3″), 200mm with the Joy Cons detached. In essence, it’s larger, more specifically taller than the original. That’s clearly to accommodate a larger screen, which everyone hopes will be an OLED by default.

Dbrand plans to launch their Killswitch 2 case alongside the Switch 2, which is projected to launch sometime in March or April 2025. That said, Nintendo themselves haven’t yet settled on a date. So when they do, things are probably going to move fast.
