All they have to do is not make an Xbox Portal.
With an upcoming Xbox Games Showcase comes rumors. And one of the biggest rumors is that there may be a TRUE and HONEST Xbox Portable on the horizon.
The news comes from noted Xbox leaker eXtas1s, via TrueAchievements. In his video, eXtas1s claims that Xbox this upcoming showcase will be the debut of this new Xbox handheld.
You might, however, notice that the video is in Spanish. Worry not, as the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit translated things and dropped the relevant information for those of us that only know enough Spanish to read a menu (or less). As SkyOld5788 puts it, the teaser for this new handheld will run at the upcoming showcase.
But that’s not all. There will also be a game shadow dropped at this showcase. This game is said to be a major Xbox Game Studios title, with the likes of Flight Simulator, Avowed, Diablo DLC, Starfield DLC, and Towerborne (and more) tossed around.
Circling back to the handheld, though, the bar is currently set both incredibly high, and very low. On the one hand, you have a number of current handheld PCs chasing the Steam Deck’s market, often successfully (if at lower numbers). On the other hand, you have the PlayStation Portal, which so misunderstood what users expect from the handheld market that it tethered its use to a WiFi environment alongside a requirement for an upper-tier PlayStation Plus account.
And given their all-in, double down on Game Pass strategy, this handheld really needs to justify itself. As is, you can simulate the PlayStation Portal experience for your Xbox-related games through the use of a decent phone and Bluetooth controller via Xbox Cloud Gaming. This handheld needs to have some actual meat on the bones to get more than the Xbox faithful on board.
Our questions will at least see a few answers on June 9th, when the Xbox Games Showcase airs.
