Twitch has been through a few ethot metas. None quite so memorable as the hot tub era, which wound up getting its own section to the consternation of normal users. The most recent, however, might just be the most blatant.
The “topless” meta is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin: female streamers topless, with the camera just high enough to skirt the ToS. Needless to say, it’s risqué enough to have caught the attention of many.
It’s something that has people calling for the banhammer, despite technically not breaking the ToS. Why? Well, one has to keep in mind that Twitch mods tend not to apply the rules to all users equally. This somehow gets a pass, but a flash of anime tiddy jiggle from a game gets a normal user a permanent ban. So, no, it’s not necessarily a Helen Lovejoy deal, even when that may be a perfectly reasonable (in this case) criticism, considering the number of younger users on the site.
It’s also worth noting that some of these streamers are simply using very low-cut tops, while others are not. The latter of which is an accident waiting to happen, IShowSpeed style.
