Windows 93 is the most amazing of insane projects and serves as more performance art than operating system. That being said, Windows 93 is still far more stable than some of the official operating systems that Microsoft has released over the years (I’m looking at you Windows ME). Art piece this may be, Windows 93 is still a fully functional operating system that runs in your browser.
How useful it might be is a different story entirely. The duo of Jankenpopp and Zombectro have loaded the project with lots of insider jokes that will delight anyone that grew up using Windows 95/98. I for one can remember those damn pop-ups that asked me to download my very own virtual desktop girl thanks to the power of ActiveX! Many of the common programs that we all used are here, only redone with a more meme based approach.
Don’t think this is just some joke page that will give only a few minutes of fun (indeed it can if you want to view it as such), but you can enjoy the full-length version of Star Wars, rendered in ASCII text, or partake in the Wolfenstein3D knockoff know as GAFA 3D.
