It’s official news now as Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios have announced that Sony is bringing Marvel into the Spider-Man fold.
Under this new deal, the next Spider-Man (actor unknown at this time) will first appear in a Marvel film in the Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will then go on to release the next installment in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his team at Marvel Studios. Sony Pictures will still continue to finance and distribute the series and will have have final creative control of the Spider-Man films under this contract..
What’s even better is that Marvel and Sony Pictures are in talks to integrate characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe into future Spider-Man films bridging the two worlds. Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment had the following to say about the deal:

Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy, who helped orchestrate this deal, are the perfect team to help produce the next chapter of Spider-Man… This is the right decision for the franchise, for our business, for Marvel, and for the fans.”
