Forza Motorsport 7 was released just a scant 4 years ago. And now, it and its DLC will no longer be for sale digitally.
This is something of a surprise, as you really don’t expect a racing game to have a lifespan shorter than the Enterpise’s misson. And yet, here we are. Microsoft has made the decision to sunset the game, ending its support for the title. It will stop being sold September 15th of this year.
The good news is that anyone that has purchased the game can still play it. moreover, if you’re playing Forza Motorsport 7 through Game Pass, you’ll still be able to play the game… provided you’ve bought DLC for it. Then you’ll get a token that allows you to continue playing the game via Xbox Message Center. The token distribution will last through August 2nd. Which means, if you want to keep playing, you still have a little bit of time to buy some DLC.
On September 15, 2021, Forza Motorsport 7 will reach End of Life status. This means that the game and its DLC will no longer be available to purchase in the Microsoft Store or available with Xbox Game Pass.
However, after September 15, players who already own Forza Motorsport 7 will still be able to download and play the game and its associated content as normal. In addition, features like multiplayer and online services will still be accessible for those who own the game.
For any Xbox Game Pass players who previously purchased DLC for the game, but not the game itself, we have good news! You will receive a token for the game through the Xbox Message Center so that you can continue playing Forza Motorsport 7. Token distribution will be through August 2. However, if after that date you have not received your token, please contact Xbox Support here. (Unused tokens will expire on September 15, 2023.)

The other good news is that Microsoft intends to keep the servers for the game alive.So you’ll still be able to play the game online. Also important is the fact that Microsoft currently has the game on sale for $10; a sale which will last through the September 15th cutoff date.
It’s still fairly puzzling as to why Microsoft would terminate the sale of the game so soon, however. If I were to venture a guess, it may have to do with vehicle licensing; it may be that the cost of keeping the game for sale had begun to become unfavorable next to the cost of any agreements with the vehicle manufacturers.Either way, you’ve got about a month and a half to get your hands on the game, one way or another.
