Windows 10 has been out for a little while now. The initial install numbers were very promising, but if the new numbers are to be believed, downloads are still soaring. The site Neowin makes the claim that some 53 million devices now are running Windows 10
The numbers they use come from StatCounter, and the numbers are pretty impressive for such a relatively small period of time. In the grand scale of things this means that Windows 10 holds 4.95% of the OS market as of last week. Given the amount of time on said market, those are pretty impressive numbers.
Microsoft is yet to make an official announcement regarding the 50 million milestone as they did when Windows 10 surpassed the 14 million mark within 24 hours of its initial release. Odds are Microsoft is waiting until number really grow before making another announcement, most likely the 100 million mark if I would venture to guess.
Windows 10 has been praised by critics and users alike for its meshing of the best elements of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 and while there are still some issues –I’m looking at you privacy settings– it’s been a solid launch. Still, while many new users will know Windows 10 as their first Microsoft OS launch, many us still have a bad taste in our mouths from Windows ME. Yeah, I ran ME on a laptop and that was a nightmare. Google that OS for a good laugh sometime.
Windows 10 is a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 users, so be sure to snag a copy while you can.
