He died at home and had his wife and family at his side.
Per a representative of the family, Chadwick Boseman, noted for his roles in 42, Get On Up, and Black Panther passed away on Friday from colon cancer at the age of 43.
He passed away with his wife and family at his side, stated his publicist Nicki Fioravante to the Associated Press.
Boseman was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, and managed to continue his work in between the treatments and surgeries.
Coincidentally, the day he passed was the same one that Major League Baseball was celebrating Jackie Robinson Day. Per the league’s tweet:
Boseman’s final performance was an adaptation of August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which finished filming last summer. The Netflix film, which costars Viola Davis, is expected to release later this year.
