The 3D Realms Anthology was one of the stand-out packages you could get, especially if you, like me, grew up cutting your gaming teeth on most of these games. Hell, I still have many of the games included on the shelf behind me. The pack included pretty much everything that the legendary studio, 3D Realms had ever brought to market in those heady days of Shareware. The anthology packed in 32 games –Minus a few that had rights issues and such– in an incredibly affordable package at $40. The team even offered the anthology at a reduced price is you snagged it at launch.
Now we are getting word via twitter that the collection is finally coming to Steam!
We have some big news coming next week…. pic.twitter.com/xOHpduOMRj

While I love the anthology as it was, the fact that it wasn’t available through steam –Most of the individual games were– hurt it by not letting more gamers in on the fun. 3D realms Director Frederik Schreiber had the following to say about the Steam news:
We’re really excited about finally bringing all the 3D Realms/Apogee games to Steam. This is probably the biggest bundle ever to be released on Steam, besides the Eidos Bundle and the price is absolutely killer.
The 3D Realms Anthology will be available for $40, but will have a launch sale that will set it at $30. For the price, and with the 30+ included games, you are getting a huge bang for the buck. We look forward to getting our hands on the pack when it hits Steam and give you all the info.
Now, if you’ll excuse me I have some Commander Keen to get back to.
