So, the Switch doesn’t exactly have some of the features other modern controllers have built in. I’m talking about headset jacks; they’re something most modern controllers have by default. The Switch, however, does not; instead, there’s an app for your phone or something like that, but at that point, you may as well just use Discord. And it’s vexing, because there are games on the platform that have headset support. Games like… *sigh*… Fortnite.
Which is why the up-and-coming peripheral company PDP’s Faceoff Deluxe+ controller is unique. It comes with a 3.5mm headset jack by default. Moreover, it has removable face plates.
There are a couple of downsides, however. For one, it’s a wired controller; if that’s a deal killer for you, then there you go. The other downside is that, as YouTuber Kevin Kenson found out, the headset jack is only compatible with games that use Vivox voice chat, like Fortnite.
The Faceoff Deluxe+ does have some benefits going for it, too. That wire is 10 feet long, for example. It also, in addition to the face plates, has programmable back buttons. Finally, the price; it’s only going to run you $25.
The Faceoff Deluxe+ isn’t out yet, though. But you can pre-order it from both PDP’s site and Amazon. It releases July 22nd.
