23 Jump Street isn’t a joke anymore

Remember the end credits to 22 Jump Street, where they went through a succession of joke sequel ideas, including one where Jonah Hill was replaced by Seth Rogen? Well, at least one of those ideas has been deemed to be good enough to make for realsies.

Rodney Rothman (22 Jump Street, Grudge Match) is on board to write 23 Jump Street, which may or may not take place in medical school, as the banner pic suggests. Deadline doesn’t know if Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will return to direct, but they are “overseeing” the project with Rothman.

Is this a cash grab? Maybe a little. Do I care? Nope! Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum have surprisingly excellent chemistry, and I’m always on board for more Schmidt and Jenko.
