December is here and with that comes our annual Holiday Gift Guide. Below you will find some picks from our contributors that cover a wide range of items at a wide range of price points.
Gtron Retro USB Super Classic Controller For PC/Mac – $8.99
What better way to play all those old games on your PC/Mac then by using a controller fit to the task. Emulation is great (is you own the original carts) but nobody likes playing retro games with a keyboard.
Perler Beads 6,000 Count Bucket-Multi Mix – $15 ($8.31 Prime)
Know someone that loves old school sprites and has an inordinate amount of free time? Nothing says “I love you” or “We’re best friends” like a bucket full of tiny plastic beads that can be used to laboriously make art. Pointillism ho!
Funko Pop! vinyl figurines (about $10-$20)
They come in a million different IPs, and they’re easy to display. Fish in a barrel.
PDP Donkey Kong Barrel Game Card Storage – $17.99
Got my hands on this little guy at a convention and could not be more happy. It looks great on your desk, but it also looks even better if you stick the Donkey Kong amiibo on top and use it as a display stand.
Sonichu T-shirt ($20, but price is just a number in the face of true love)
Nothing says you’re in on the internet’s greatest and most widely read comic like this tee, emblazoned with the totally original character, Sonichu. Move over, Rob Liefeld; there’s a new artist in town, and this one is at least vaguely familiar with the shape of a foot.
Exploding Kittens – $20
Backed this game via the original Kickstarter and was very happy. So much so that I have picked up a number of these as gifts. If you can, be sure to pick up the NSFW expansion deck for even more fun.
Retron 1 NES System – $24.99
Want to get back into retro gaming, but don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars just to play Mario and Kirby, then the Retron 1 is for you. I’ve actually given these a gifts a number of times and people always loved them, just remember to toss in a game or two!
New California Republic Flag – $24.99
Battletoads Vinyl Soundtrack – $25
I can easily recommend this one simply for the amazing Pause music that Battletoads employed. Plus, you can listen to some really cool tracks for levels that you’ll never see as the game is wicked hard.
Star Trek Catan Board Game – $34.51
Catan is a really fun game, so much so that I had family come visit during Thanksgiving and went out to by the game just to show everyone how fun it was. This Star Trek version is perfect for the Catan/Star Trek fan!
Starcraft Protoss Pylon USB Charger – $34.99
Amazon Fire 7″ Tablet – $49.99
Steam Wallet Cards ($20, $50, or $100)
Sure, it might seem like the cheap old stand by, but hear me out. Watch as your gamer friend/family member’s eyes come alive at the realization that you just bought them like, 14 new games thanks to the inevitable sale.
Sphero BB-8 App-Enabled Droid – $149.99
How can you not love BB-8? This little guy has already risen to the same height as R2-D2 and the film isn’t even out yet. Now you can have you own BB-8 and drive it around to your hearts content.
Amazon Echo – $179.99
The future is now with the Amazon Echo. Let this little thing become your own personal assistant and hold conversation with it. Heck, it’s probably more fun than spending time with some of you family.
Construct A Custom Lightsaber (price varies based on components)
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out this month. I’m sure that scruffy nerfherder in your life would greatly enjoy a custom lightsaber made out of materials that don’t fall apart after that epic battle. The Custom Saber Shop has got you covered there.
The Gotham Golfcart – $28,500
Because when money is no object to how you roll on the golf course and you want to be the Batman of the fairway.
The Authentic 1966 Batmobile – $200,000
